Allowing beauty....{Sea to Sky Grad Photographer}

It's been a busy few weeks here, lot's of excitement within our wonderful community here of various milestones in the lives of families that live here. I would like to start off this series of blog posts were I have been fortunate enough to document these milestones with some of the grads I have been working with.

My post title comes from a thought that came to mind of how I felt about myself at 17 graduating and how I saw these girls through my camera.....quite simply I was extremely shy(much preferring to be on the picture making side of the camera) where as these girls were so fresh and confident , completely at ease at allowing their beauty to shine.

Only a few more weeks...{Squamish Teen Photographer}

I had the wonderful fortune to work with one of the Graduating High School students a couple of weeks ago.It is the second year in a row we have spent some time together with the camera, and it was just as much fun, if not more the second time around. We went out and about around Squamish on a Saturday afternoon to see what we could see...

this is what I saw.

"Simon Says.....Jump!" {Vancouver Family Photographer}

Have you ever noticed how much kids like to JUMP???? Jump off things, into things, over things.....I observe my son jumping up and down on the spot during his swim lessons because he is just sooo excited to be there,

so when you ask a child to jump when having their photo taken it is an easy thing to get them to do!(well most of the time anyway!)

Now what makes it even more fun is when the parent's join in too!

This family were so sweet and enthusiastic enough to brave a cold rainy day in Vancouver recently...here are a few sneak peeks at what we got..

Trying something new....

Earth Day....Every Day {Sea To Sky Children's Lifestyle Photographer}

 Earth Day Celebration's are upon us and a feeling of appreciation for the wonderful planet we live on infuses me....

I want to take this time to welcome any new readers as well as returning visitors to my blog, wishing you all a very happy earth day.

So in honour of Earth Day 2010 here are a few photos of children enjoying the planet we inhabit(I just love the way kids make me feel that every day is earth day...especially when they are climbing high up into the trees)

These children above were so lucky to have grandparents with a wonderful garden, free of pesticides but full of delicious food to pick and eat!

Dear Friends....{Canadian/Australian Family Photographer}

Its into April already and here we are back in Canada adjusting to the ever changing Spring weather.

I hope everyone had a fabulous weekend…

I have finally found the time to finish up some editing of Australian photo sessions. I am ever grateful for everyone's patience, it was a busy last couple of weeks before leaving for BC!

Whilst in Melbourne I had the wonderful pleasure of catching up with  one of my dearest longtime friends and her sweet family….it was also such a pleasure to be able to spend some time taking a few photos of them….here are just a couple of peeks at my faves…

 
 
 

 

Next post I will be bringing you some peeks at a commercial shoot I did for a wonderful Cafe in Trafalgar called Cafe Obsession. After being involved with this session and having many wonderful treats there I can see why it has such a name...stay tuned....

Our Coastal Summer....{Canadian/Australian Family and Children's Photographer}

It feels like we have been here in Australia forever and it seems strange to think that it is almost time to pack up and head north back to Canada. Looking back over all the photos that have been taken it is easy to see what we loved to do and where we liked to go the most in between my work schedule! Hmmm, beaches, beaches and yes more beaches!

Perhaps it is the fact that we live so far from sandy beaches in Canada; the novelty of feeling that warm glowing feel of the sun and salt on our skin or the waves crashing around us as we surfed, swam and boogie boarded, not to mention seeing sunsets. We will miss it very much and are already planning our next trip back....however the mountains where we live are so gorgeous it is exciting to think we have those to return to and spend time in.

One thing we all found very fascinating was not only the diversity of wild life we encountered, but the variation in beach sand!!! One of our absolute favourites was Squeaky Beach at Wilson's Prom., named such as it actually made a squeaky sound as you walked along it. The colour was gorgeously light, almost white , but yet the texture was quite coarse, almost like grains of salt!

Anyway, enough words, below are a few photos taken at Squeaky beach then further along at Woolami Surf beach on Philip Island....

Days of Blue Skies....{Canadian/Australian Children's Photographer}

I am a little bit behind in my blog posts as we have been on the move quite a bit lately,busy documenting our travels and experiences......as a result I fell in love all over again with photography and capturing the spirit of my children, reminding me of just why I do what I do and delight in my job!

here are a few more that were taken on our travels along the Great Ocean road in Victoria, not only have I managed to work on photographing my family, but I have been excited to grab a few photos of the scenery(so much to learn here!!!)...and yes the skies really were as blue as you see them in the light station images!

Koalas in The Wild! {Canadian/Australian Lifestyle Photographer}

Another week of warm weather and exciting travels along the coast of southern Australia, where we all spent some time in the surf at the beautiful town of Apollo Bay.I put some time in boogie boarding along with the rest of the family, in between shooting and editing photos.I LOVED it even when the waves got the better of me!

After leaving Apollo Bay I was determined for my family to travel further along the Great Ocean Road to do some"sight seeing" and was so glad I made that call, as you will see below.

Firstly we were excited to see a number of koalas dotted in trees along the road to Cape Otway.I couldn't believe how close we were to them, this is not a common thing here in Australia to see them like this in the wild, they are usually pretty shy little creatures.

Then when we reached the "12 Apostles" it was as breath taking as I remembered it as a child....
